A
lecturer was giving a lecture to his student on stress management. He raised a
glass of water and asked the students;
"How heavy do you think this glass of water is?"
The students' answers ranged from 20 grams to 500 grams.
"It does not matter on the absolute weight. It depends on how long you hold the
glass.
If I hold it for a minute, it is OK.
If I hold it for an hour, I will have an ache in my right arm.
If I hold it for a day, you will have to call an ambulance.
It is the exact same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes."
If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, we will not be able
to carry on, the burden becoming increasingly heavier.
What you have to do is to put the glass down, rest for a while before holding it
up again. We have to put down the burden periodically, so that we can be
refreshed and are able to carry on.
So before you return home from work tonight, put the burden of work down. Don't
carry it back home. You can pick it up tomorrow.
Whatever burdens you are having now on your shoulders, let it down for a moment
if you can. Pick it up again later when you have rested . . .

of the most highly anticipated events at the Summer Olympics is the men's 100
meters. The winner of this quadrennial event can lay claim to being the fastest
man in the world. At the 2004 Games in Athens, American Justin Gatlin ran a
blistering 9.85 in the final heat to win the gold. The
silver medalist, Portugal's Francis Obikwelu, ran 9.86.
Yes, that's one
one-hundredth of a second slower - a very Slight Edge.
Do you know what makes the difference between a .300-hitting baseball star with
a multimillion-dollar contract and a .260-plus player making only an average
salary? Less than one additional hit per week over the course of the season.
And you know what makes the difference between getting that hit and striking
out? About one quarter-inch up or down the bat.

If you had followed any of those people around for the twenty or thirty or forty
years during which they were amassing their financial empires, I promise you, it
would not have been breath-takingly exciting-no more exciting than it would be
to follow an Olympic athlete in training every day from his 3:30 A.M. wake-up
call to his exhausted collapse into bed at night.
We love rags-to-riches stories and underdog-becomes-hero stories, and we use
them to motivate people because they are so exciting and dramatic...aren't
they?
Actually, no. The truth is they're not exciting at all-when they're really
happening. They only seem dramatic in the retelling. But the reality is that
the rags-to-riches success story person has gotten to where he is be making
mundane, quiet, little Slight Edge decisions and repeating simple
disciplines, day in and day out.
It's not exciting to read about: it's not exciting to make a movie about. It's
not even exciting to do.
But believe me, it sure is exciting when you finally get to experience the

I was on an airplane with my longtime friend, Russ Noland. I asked
him how he was able to expand his network into Germany. He replied:
"I didn't
know anyone in Germany, so I ran a local ad with the headline:
‘Do you speak
German?’
"Now I have a local lead with contacts in Germany."
Russ didn’t charge over to Germany and try to make contacts. Instead, he knew
that there were many people in the United States who already had contacts in
Germany.
Russ also didn’t speak German. So it made sense for him to talk to people in the
United States and explain to them his opportunity.
But running an ad in the local newspaper isn’t the only way to find Germans. He
could also:
Contact the local German/American Association.
Find a small newspaper that caters to the German/American community.
Talk to German teachers at schools and universities.
Rent a mailing list of people who bought German language books or
courses.
Visit with travel agents who specialize in German tours.
Find retired military personnel who served in Germany.
Remember, prospecting is easier if you use the Sherlock Holmes approach. Just
think of who is in contact with the market that you wish to reach.

Happy to say my
Appetizer Diet Cookie order was picked up by FedEx at
5:01 PM. Just checked the Vitamark
back office. Don't know if that truck moves tonight or
tomorrow, but I think there's the slightest chance I'll have
Appetizer Diet Cookies by Monday. I hope so! I'm having
lunch with a friend over in Tyler (our big city) on Tuesday
and it will be a chance to hand out several cookies.
I'm also going to a party store in Tyler and buy some small
red bags and some purple ribbon and will be giving
red-bagged
Appetizer Diet Cookies to the Frankston Methodist Red Hatters on
Thursday. At 3 I'll be attending an EBay seminar
strictly for the purpose of unobtrusively giving away

I'll be out on Friday in Athens to get my hair done, so
there's opportunity there..
I went to lunch with two women today who live in separate
parts of East Texas and promised to mail

I plan to mail at least 10 every day. Wednesday is the only
day I don't have something scheduled away from home, and I
can get more ready to mail that day.
I will be attending a potluck dinner on July 1, and a 4th of
July celebration the afternoon of July 2 (church sponsored)

I'm not usually flitting around with social events as often
as I've just described. Especially with the price of
gasoline, but sometimes a bunch of things happen at once,
