"Which comes first, the income or the attitude?"

"Uneducated, untrained, unmotivated distributor leads company in recruiting and retail sales. Earns largest check ever in network marketing."

I'm still waiting to see that headline in a network marketing company's newsletter. I suppose I'll have to wait some more. :-)

If you showed that headline to your first level Vitamark affiliates, what would they say? They'd laugh and joke about how preposterous such a scenario would be.

Yet, these same first level distributors won't invest in or even borrow network marketing educational materials from their sponsor.

They won't read the team training manual cover-to-cover.  They won't attend the regional training events, Leadership Summits or National Conventions. And they whine and complain about the economy, the company's policies, their sponsor and the weather.

Keeping positive is just too much work.

A good sponsor will invite first-level affiliates over to the house for dinner. Then, after the main course, and before dessert, the sponsor can explain the facts of life to the new distributors.

Ask them,

"Which comes first, the income or the attitude?"

Make sure you share these facts before dessert. If you wait until after dessert, your audience will be in front of the television attentively watching other people earn fabulous incomes in their acting careers.

A lot of people don't realize the value of just having a customer. I had dinner with a bunch of affiliates in Chicago the other night. One lady there, her daughter, who is about 15 years old, had lost 53 pounds using the Appetizer Diet Cookie & Shake. She went from about 185 pounds to 132 pounds. What do you think that did to that girl's self-image?

"How heavy do you think this glass of water is?"

A lecturer was giving a lecture to his student on stress management. He raised a glass of water and asked the students;

"How heavy do you think this glass of water is?"

The students' answers ranged from 20 grams to 500 grams.

"It does not matter on the absolute weight. It depends on how long you hold the glass.

If I hold it for a minute, it is OK.
If I hold it for an hour, I will have an ache in my right arm.
If I hold it for a day, you will have to call an ambulance.

It is the exact same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes."

If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, we will not be able to carry on, the burden becoming increasingly heavier.

What you have to do is to put the glass down, rest for a while before holding it up again. We have to put down the burden periodically, so that we can be refreshed and are able to carry on.

So before you return home from work tonight, put the burden of work down. Don't carry it back home. You can pick it up tomorrow.

Whatever burdens you are having now on your shoulders, let it down for a moment if you can. Pick it up again later when you have rested . . .

Rest and relax. AND TAKE A SHOT OF LIMU PLUS!!

Jeff Olson, author of The Slight EdgeOne of the most highly anticipated events at the Summer Olympics is the men's 100 meters. The winner of this quadrennial event can lay claim to being the fastest man in the world. At the 2004 Games in Athens, American Justin Gatlin ran a blistering 9.85 in the final heat to win the gold. The silver medalist, Portugal's Francis Obikwelu, ran 9.86.

Yes, that's one one-hundredth of a second slower - a very Slight Edge.

Do you know what makes the difference between a .300-hitting baseball star with a multimillion-dollar contract and a .260-plus player making only an average salary? Less than one additional hit per week over the course of the season. And you know what makes the difference between getting that hit and striking out? About one quarter-inch up or down the bat.

No golf fan who watched the 2004 Master's tournament will ever forget how it ended: Phil Mickelson, winner of more tournaments over the past ten years than anyone else, with the exception of Tiger Woods, was left with a twenty-foot putt on the eighteenth hole of the final round. Miss it, even by one inch, and he would head into a playoff with the number two player in the world, Ernie Els. Make it, and he would finally silence the critics and win his first major. The putt rolled in and Mickelson had his green jacket.

Over the course of the tournament's four days, Mickelson shot a 279, six strokes better than two-time Master's champion Bernhard Langer did. The difference? One and one half strokes per day better than Langer does. The Slight Edge.

It consisted of-you guessed it. Doing little, mundane, ordinary, insignificant, everyday things with their money.

If you had followed any of those people around for the twenty or thirty or forty years during which they were amassing their financial empires, I promise you, it would not have been breath-takingly exciting-no more exciting than it would be to follow an Olympic athlete in training every day from his 3:30 A.M. wake-up call to his exhausted collapse into bed at night.

We love rags-to-riches stories and underdog-becomes-hero stories, and we use them to motivate  people because they are so exciting and dramatic...aren't they?

Actually, no. The truth is they're not exciting at all-when they're really happening. They only seem dramatic in the retelling. But the reality is that the rags-to-riches success story person has gotten to where he is be making mundane, quiet, little Slight Edge decisions and repeating simple disciplines, day in and day out.

It's not exciting to read about: it's not exciting to make a movie about. It's not even exciting to do.

But believe me, it sure is exciting when you finally get to experience the results.

I was on an airplane with my longtime friend, Russ Noland. I asked him how he was able to expand his network into Germany. He replied:

"I didn't know anyone in Germany, so I ran a local ad with the headline:

 ‘Do you speak German?

"Now I have a local lead with contacts in Germany."

Russ didn’t charge over to Germany and try to make contacts. Instead, he knew that there were many people in the United States who already had contacts in Germany.

Russ also didn’t speak German. So it made sense for him to talk to people in the United States and explain to them his opportunity.

But running an ad in the local newspaper isn’t the only way to find Germans. He could also:

Contact the local German/American Association.

Find a small newspaper that caters to the German/American community.

Talk to German teachers at schools and universities.

Rent a mailing list of people who bought German language books or courses.

Visit with travel agents who specialize in German tours.

Find retired military personnel who served in Germany.

Remember, prospecting is easier if you use the Sherlock Holmes approach. Just think of who is in contact with the market that you wish to reach.

"Give out two-cookies-a-day? This is EASY! I love it!"

Here's a quick update on my Appetizer Diet Cookie "Two-A-Day Campaign"

Happy to say my Appetizer Diet Cookie order was picked up by FedEx at 5:01 PM. Just checked the Vitamark back office. Don't know if that truck moves tonight or tomorrow, but I think there's the slightest chance I'll have Appetizer Diet Cookies by Monday. I hope so! I'm having lunch with a friend over in Tyler (our big city) on Tuesday and it will be a chance to hand out several cookies.

I'm also going to a party store in Tyler and buy some small red bags and some purple ribbon and will be giving red-bagged Appetizer Diet Cookies to the Frankston Methodist Red Hatters on Thursday.  At 3 I'll be attending an EBay seminar strictly for the purpose of unobtrusively giving away Appetizer Diet Cookies before and after and during the break.

I'll be out on Friday in Athens to get my hair done, so there's opportunity there..

I went to lunch with two women today who live in separate parts of East Texas and promised to mail Appetizer Diet Cookies to them.

I plan to mail at least 10 every day. Wednesday is the only day I don't have something scheduled away from home, and I can get more ready to mail that day.

I will be attending a potluck dinner on July 1, and a 4th of July celebration the afternoon of July 2 (church sponsored) and I'll have Appetizer Diet Cookies with me and will give away as many as I can.

I'm not usually flitting around with social events as often as I've just described. Especially with the price of gasoline, but sometimes a bunch of things happen at once, and it's good that it's happening next week. It gives me more opportunity to hand out Appetizer Diet Cookies.

This is not a list (I have that too, esp. for mailing), but I do plan to be busy!

Mr. Shoaff' s Ten Simple Words

My first mentor, Mr. Shoaff, taught me—over a five-year period of time before he died—some extraordinarily simple things...

Mr. Shoaff only went through the 9th grade. He never finished high school, never went to college, and never went to a university. So he put his experiences and ideas into very simple language, which, I think for me—a farm boy from the state of Idaho—was so important.

When I would say, "This is all the company pays." Mr. Shoaff would say, "No, that is all they pay YOU." I thought, "That is a new way to look at it."

I told him things cost too much. But he said, "No, you can't afford them." Well, that too was a new concept for me. And he also promised me, if I would improve, then I would be able to earn more money. So one of the first lessons I learned was, I didn't need to work on the company, I needed to work on myself.

If his advice to me had been technical, I might have missed it. If it had been mystic, I would have backed away. But it was just basic, blunt, "a-b-c" familiar stuff that I hadn't thought of before. For me it was the beginning of what he called, personal development.

Mr. Shoaff also taught me that life puts some of the more valuable things on the high shelf so that you can't get to them until you qualify. If you want the things on the high shelf, you must stand on the books  you read. With every book you read, you get to stand a little higher.

The following is how a Vitamark leader can handle a conversation with an unqualified prospect:

Prospect: How much money can I make with your opportunity?

Vitamark Leader: How much money do you want to earn?

"The bigger your organization, the less important YOU really are!"

While helping Vitamark affiliates in Europe build their businesses, an interesting topic came up.

There has always been praise and accolades given to individuals who have ‘built an organization’.

I can tell you without fear of contradiction that it is IMPOSSIBLE for ANY single individual to build an organization.


Tom 'Big Al' Schreiter, "Hey, Mike Lewis really does understand how to build a large Vitamark team!"

Here’s why!

If you had 1000 people in your organization...

         • How many of those would you personally know?

         • How many would you have any kind of relationship with?

         • How many would you have any influence over at all?

I hear guesses of anything between five and 100.

For the sake of easy mathematics, let’s go with 100

What that means is that 900 people, or 90 percent of all the people in your organization are people you don’t know, may never know and most likely will never, EVER even get to meet.

It also means that statistically 90 percent of the sales volume that you make commissions on comes from that same group of people that you don’t know and may never EVER meet.

So let me ask you…

"How much of that organization did YOU build?"

NONE! Right?

What YOU did was build a GROUP of 100 people... and that GROUP built that organization!

So, any credit given for building that organization should be passed to those who actually did it. YOU did not!

Now, what if the organization was 10,000 people? YOU would still only be able to influence or know 100 people, right? But now that’s only 1 percent, not 10 percent of the organization.

What that means is the bigger the organization, the less important YOU really are! Yet, we hear all the time about someone who is described as a Superstar Networker don’t we? It’s a complete NONSENSE!

Of course in considering these numbers we must also note that the size of your commission check has almost NOTHING to do with you either! In fact the more time that passes, and the larger the organization becomes, and the larger your check becomes the more insignificant YOU become in EVERYTHING!

Those of you with a BIG EGO will want to argue about this I’m sure! But you can argue all you want. The numbers don’t lie and the more you argue, any credibility you may have had --  evaporates!

Here’s the truth:

Most really good Networkers build a group of 25-30 people over time, and that Group is responsible for building the organization.

The ‘work’ involved in building a strong and viable Network Marketing business can be encapsulated in the effort, interest, integrity and activity required to build that Group. That’s IT. That’s ALL! (And Vitamark and the Vitamark leadership really get this!)

Do it once, and do it right, treat people with respect, with dignity with compassion and understanding, and your success is guaranteed. The only open question is, how long will it take? And that depends on you.

Some people take six months, some take six years. It’s always your choice!

The simple two-envelope close.

Make the decision easy for you and your guests with "The two-envelope" close.

Have two sealed envelopes at opportunity meetings. Label one envelope "No" and the other envelope "Yes."

At the end of the meeting, show your guest the two envelopes. Tell your guest that he will receive one of the envelopes depending on his or her decision.

Over $10,000 a month in recurring income with only 400 active affiliates?

In our Vitamark one-minute presentation we say:

To earn about $500 in residual, passive, recurring income, you'd have to do these three things:

1) Don't change.

2) Find a two or three Vitamark products you like...

3) Between you, and everyone they talk to, and everyone they talk to, and everyone they talk to... eventually have 25 people or 25 families who use the products on a regular basis...

... and you earn about $500 in residual, passive, recurring income.

So, for every 25 people on your team on autoship, you'd earn about $500.

So, if you had 50 people, you'd earn about $1000.  With 100 people, you'd earn about $2000.  With 300 people, you'd earn about $6000.  With 350 people you should earn about $7000 in residual, passive, recurring income!

So, let's take a look at what actually happens in real life with a group of 350 affiliates on autoship.

HERE ARE THE REAL LIFE NUMBERS:

I went back through some of the numbers I had saved a long while back (I wish I had saved the numbers more often!) -- and I found this absolutely fascinating!

When I had 350 affiliates on Autoship on my team, I earned over $12,000 for the month with Vitamark. *

Wow! That's a lot more than $7000! Our Vitamark team doesn't have to hype the Vitamark Pay Plan -- even the picture we paint in our meetings is in most cases a low-figure based on what actually happens in real life!

How many companies do you know who "under-hype" and "over-deliver" their pay plan like Vitamark does?  Most companies "over-hype" and "under-deliver."

And, the bottom line $7000 ($500 for every 25 people) would have been a SUPER great payout! And at the time I had affiliates 16 levels down my deepest leg and was still getting paid on my entire team... very well apparently.

So, when I had 350 people on autoship on my team, I was earning $891 for every 25 people on autoship!

These numbers (approx $500 for every 25) are holding true all the way up the pay plan... from people with a small team, to Platinums, to Diamonds and above!  Vitamark pays better on reasonable volume generated than any plan I've ever seen.  That means you don't have to be a "Super Star" producer to start earning a really nice weekly extra paycheck with Vitamark.

Stupid things we say...

Q. Why don't prospects see what we see?

A. Because of what we say and what we do.

For example:

• When we say "financial freedom" - our prospects think an insurance salesman is approaching.

• When we say "time freedom" - our prospects know we're telling a lie because nobody has any free time anymore.

• When we say "residual income" - our prospects know that residual means "leftover stuff that nobody wants."

Our prospects will see the same vision that we see -- if we communicate that vision clearly.  So let's not tell our prospects:

"If you work hard, you can retire in five years."

Let's describe it this way instead:

"My friend is going to college for five years to become a professional. At the end of those five years, he graduates. Then he will start his career.

"Another friend is building his network marketing business for five years. At the end of those five years, instead of starting a career, he will retire."

Notice how the second example helps our prospects to see what we see? Remember, it's what we say and what we do that makes  the difference.

Kiyosaki says "yes" and explains, "in the corporate world if you don't sell, you're fired. In network marketing they'll work with you to achieve success. What a deal that is! That's revolutionary."

And much more... here's conversation with Robert Kiyosaki about Network Marketing, the distribution model  of choice for Vitamark International.

Robert this quote has been attributed to you:

"If I had it to do all over again, rather than build an old style type of business I would have started building a network marketing business."

Did you really say that?

I said something like that, yeah!

Is it true?

Yes, when I looked at the problems I had to go through, but it's how I started. I still like building companies, but it was harder.

When you and I first spoke, many years ago, you were not all that 'high' on network marketing. What caused you to change your mind?

Let me backtrack and explain things to you. When I started as an entrepreneur I had to learn how to sell. That's how I started and I started with Xerox in 1974.

What I say to people today, when asked, "How would you start a business?" I always tell them to go start with a network marketing company. Not because of the network marketing company per se, but for the training you get from the network marketing company.

The reason I say that is because what makes people rich is not money. What makes people rich is skills. And the number one skill of an entrepreneur is the ability to sell.

That's why I recommend network marketing. It's not that I've ever been high or low or anything on it. When I first started out I just didn't realize how good the training was with that business model, because my training came from the corporate world of Xerox. Not too many guys are going to get hired by Xerox today and they don't do as extensive a training anymore because people quit too early.

So my whole point on recommending network marketing is that you go there and you gain priceless business skills. That explains further what I'm saying about if I had to do it all over again? I would probably go and get training through a network marketing company.

Robert, can you break down what some of those skills are and why they are important?

SELL! Sell, sell, sell, sell, four-letter word, you've got to sell. And that's the word everybody's afraid of! But? sales = income.

So when someone has low income, 99% of the time it's because they can't sell something; they have nothing to sell or they can't sell. You've got to learn how to sell.

If I'm going to be an entrepreneur then that is THE number one skill. That's the theme to everything I tell you. You read Rich Dad, Poor Dad, it says, "I'm not a best writing author, I'm a best selling author".

I think this is an important point about where most people make a mistake. They go into things looking at how much money they can make versus what skills they need to make the money. That's when I get really tired of talking to people.

I keep saying, "Just get the skills and the money will show up!"

Robert, can you talk to me about the components that go into 'sell, sell, sell'?

I'm just saying it's training. You have to know you're going to make mistakes. Look at the way the corporate world trains you.

When I was working at Xerox, every month they would post my record and of those in the bottom twenty, one of us got fired. They fired two guys and they hired two new guys. So, the only reason I learned how to sell was because I was afraid of getting fired.

At least in the network marketing world they'll train you. It's a whole different way of being taught. In the network marketing world if you're not making it, someone will be there to encourage you. It's a lot more humane way of being taught a vital, vital, vital life skill called sales.

Just look at the subject of sales? Jesus Christ was probably the best salesman in the whole world, and of course Buddha and Mohammed, they were all great at sales. Look at the presidential candidates, the one that wins is the one that does the best job of selling his point of view.

It seems to be the human condition, especially in the academic world, that there are two subjects that nobody wants to talk about, one is money and one is sales. They seem to think of 'cash' as a four-letter word and 'sale' as a four-letter word yet, I'm a teacher and I make more money than most teachers in the academic world simply because I can sell better than they can.

When I recommend network marketing to people, it is for one simple reason, you gain a life skill. It's called 'overcoming your fear of rejection', 'overcoming the clients fear of being sold', and breaking through that.

Robert, what makes you say that network marketing is a revolutionary way to achieve wealth?

Because they don't fire you! They'll work with you! They'll help you build a business and once you have a business you really do have an asset.

Assets are something that put money in your pocket whether you work or not. If you have a job... well, look at some of the big financial houses, they're firing people right now. One of them is firing something like 15,000 people in the U.S. and hiring 15,000 people in India. The day of the safe, secure job is gone.

At least with a network marketing business you work really hard to build something that you can pass on to your kids and, if you've done a good job, if you stop working it will continue to support you. You're not working for the rich, you're not working just for money, you are actually working to build an asset.

Is that what you speak about in your business school book, The Hidden Values, you speak about the value of a network?

Yes, well, the richest people in the world build networks. That's why they're called 'Television Networks' or gasoline service station networks. The poor and middle class and educated work for networks, I'd rather own the network.

For example, I have a network of book stores throughout the world that we control. That's worth a lot of money to me. I don't want to work for them; I just want to control them. I think in the form of networks and the average person thinks about working for money. I'd rather work to build a network. That's why I'm rich.

And that's what we get to do in network marketing. Build a network which we can take anywhere with us?

It's a completely different point of view; it's a different way of looking at the world.

If somebody said to me, "I'll pay you $5 million dollars a year to go work at Harvard University" I wouldn't take it. That's not enough money. Why would I work for somebody else? That doesn't compute for me. They could take it away from me and that just doesn't make sense. I know it computes to most people, like 401K's and Mutual Funds, which also make no sense to me but, I've been trained differently. I can make more building my own business. I pay more than that in taxes each year.

So what I'm saying to network marketing company's is, what makes it hard for some people is that they have to give up their old ideas of what they were told to do? go to school, get a job, work hard, save money, get out of debt, invest in long term, diversify, buy mutual funds.

That's really stupid from my point of view, but it is good advice for the average person. It's simply a completely different point of view. I am an entrepreneur.

I don't want to work for someone else. I don't want somebody telling me how much money I can make, I don't want somebody to tell me where I can go in the world or when I have to come to work. I'd hate it! Nobody tells me that. That's why I support network marketing!

Is that part of the challenge that network marketers face? that most people are indoctrinated in thinking as you just described?

Absolutely! From the time we're born we are told by other people what to do, including go to school, get good grades, get a good job, work hard, get a pension etc. That's not my idea of life. I want my freedom and anybody messes with my freedom, I fight for it.

When you talk to most people about going for freedom you'll find they would rather go for security. That's the challenge that network marketers have, they are talking to people who are, fundamentally, cowards. Cowards let their fear run them.

And that's what people run up against when they want to talk about network marketing.

People claim they want to be free but they are not willing to give up their job security, they're not willing to take any risks, they want a guaranteed paycheck but they also want their freedom?

Talk to me a little bit about the role of leadership in network marketing. And how is it different from leadership in other forms of business?

Well, leadership in network marketing is that you are offering no guarantees. Tell the truth! All you're offering this person is the possibility, the possibility that this other person can be a leader themselves.

If you're more concerned with your own self-preservation, what people think of you ,and steady paychecks, then you don't have core leadership skills.

To be a leader you have to be one willing and able to take the heat, to stand there and take the fire and say, "Look, you can do it!"

Leadership in corporate America is called management. They aren't true leaders; they're just dangling a paycheck in order to get people to do what management wants them to do.

You've witnessed a number of leaders in network marketing. What do you see them doing right?

They inspire people to be leaders. A leader doesn't lead, a leader creates leaders. That's why network marketing is so powerful? because if you can get somebody who is confident and more interested in freedom than security to actually come and lead people, their lives will change.

That's not always easy to do because of the mindset of the majority. That's the hardest part.

So many people are so afraid to say, "I want to do network marketing" not because it's not a good idea, it's because of what their friends and co-workers might think of them!

That's not me! I stand up and say what I say because I feel it's the truth. No one should apologize for wanting to do network marketing!

That's not freedom! Reminds me of the movie, Braveheart, where Mel Gibson says, "They can take our lives but they can't take our freedom!" Most people will sell their freedom so they can have their little lives.

Now understand, I know somebody has to be willing to do the jobs, be a waiter or waitress, or a school teacher and I appreciate that, but many people who do it are willing to sell their freedom and what I'm talking to you about is freedom.

The reason you learn how to sell is so you can become free. The reason you want to be in network marketing is for your freedom.

Do you realize most people from the U.S. can't go to Mexico and do work because you need a green card? But if you're a business owner, well, I can go to Mexico or China or wherever I want and do business. That's freedom! But if you're an employee you need a green card, that's not freedom.

I can make as much money as I like. That's freedom. But if I have to work for someone else and they're going to tell me how much I can make, that's not freedom.

That's really what it comes down to. When I get that question, do I recommend network marketing, actually, I recommend freedom!

That's what I stand for. And I don't care what that means to you, just go do it.

For me, freedom means I don't have to answer to anybody, I can leave the country if I want to leave it, I can travel around the world and make as much as I want, legally, ethically, morally. I tell you exactly where I'm at; you don't have to guess where I'm at. That's freedom; I don't worry about what somebody else thinks of me. That's what I stand for, not network marketing. Network marketing is one of the ways you can get there.

Do you think it's one of the best ways for average people?

I think it's the best system for the average person, yes. I say again, in the corporate world if you don't sell within the first year, you're fired. In network marketing they'll work with you to achieve success. What a deal that is! They will work with you to become free. Isn't that wonderful? That's revolutionary!

Vitamark Introduces New Placement Feature

Vitamark has added a new feature to the Group Management Tool that allows sponsors to manage affiliate placements. Placement is the practice of choosing the exact position in the downline organization that a new affiliate will occupy. In essence, placement is a transfer of sponsorship from the actual sponsor to someone else in the organization. It's a way for business builders to take a proactive hand in the shape of the organization, matching new affiliates with uplines who are eager to help them thrive. Sponsors can place new affiliates strategically to reward business building in their organizations, or to help recent affiliates grow their downlines more quickly.

QUESTIONS ABOUT PLACEMENTS

Who can I place?
You can only "place" affiliates (1) you have personally sponsored, who (2) have given their permission for you, as sponsor, to place them. We require permission from the new affiliate to insure that his or her expectations are met, and that the placement is a "win-win" scenario for everyone involved.

When can I make a placement?
The window for making placements lasts from the time a new affiliate joins to the first commission cycle. You have until Midnight Saturday (CST) of the week of enrollment to request a placement. When you log into GMT and select the Placement tool, the system will automatically show you which affiliates are eligible for placement.

How does the placement work?
Starting with the list of eligible affiliates, select the person you wish to place, enter the Affiliate ID Number of the new sponsor, and then confirm the placement. Once you click Confirm, the placement request will be saved. After the commission cycle runs, all saved placement requests are automatically executed in the order in which they were received.

Can I cancel a placement request before the commission cycle?
Yes, but placement requests can only be canceled during the initial week of sponsorship. After the commission cycle is complete and the placement is made, it cannot be canceled or reversed.

Can a placement be reversed after the commission cycle?
No. Once a placement is completed, it cannot be reversed. The transfer of sponsorship is permanent.

What about Priority or Priority Plus Bonuses?
When an Instant Gold or Instant Platinum is "placed," the original sponsor receives the Priority or Priority Plus Bonus.

SPONSORS: HOW TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF PLACEMENTS

Now that Vitamark has made placements so simple, the first question for sponsors is how to make the most of this new capability. Placements are a powerful business building tool, so it's important to use them strategically. The goal of a good placement is to match an enthusiastic new affiliate with a sponsor who will be a great mentor. Here are some things to consider:

1. You have to sponsor to spill
Having the power to place new affiliates under your downline makes you an influential business building in your organization, but first you have to sponsor the new affiliates! When a sponsor chooses to place a new affiliate in his or her downline, we call that "spill." The new affiliate is literally spilling over from the sponsor's first level to a position deeper in the organization. This creates a lot of excitement for everyone involved, and it all starts when you sponsor someone.

2. Make sure your new affiliate is happy with the placement
For a successful placement, your new affiliate should be enthusiastic about being mentored by his or her new sponsor. Explain why you want to make the placement, share with the affiliate why you think the new sponsor will be a great mentor, and answer any questions he or she may have.

3. Make sure the new sponsor is committed to building
When you examine your downline to decide where a new affiliate should be placed, look for potential sponsors who are committed to business building, people who are enthusiastic and active. It's easy to see who's committed: look for people enrolled on AutoShip, generating regular volume, showing the plan and attending events. These are the kind of sponsors who will make good mentors.

4. Use placements to reward commitment
Think of placements as a way to reward people in your downline who are promoting duplication. Let your organization know that you are going to be making placements and that you'll be looking for leadership traits in potential sponsors. This is a great way to encourage commitment.

5. Use placements to encourage recent affiliates
Another great way to use placements is to encourage recent affiliates who have shown determination to succeed. What could be more exciting than to begin a new business and have your upline reward your enthusiasm with a new placement?

AFFILIATES: HOW TO ATTRACT PLACEMENTS

The new placement feature also means that your upline will be looking at you as a potential mentor for new affiliates, too. What can you do to make yourself an attractive candidate? You need to model successful habits personally to show that you're capable of mentoring others, and that means making some fundamental commitments.

1. AutoShip
With the introduction of the new Phase 3 Priority & Priority Plus Bonuses, enrolling on AutoShip is now a "no brainer." In addition to receiving regular orders that you control, AutoShip unlocks faster Car Bonus qualification and additional earning potential you can't achieve otherwise. Remember this: your upline wants you to be on AutoShip, because it ensures that you will generate regular volume in the organization. You want the same from your downline, too. If you haven't enrolled on AutoShip yet, now is the time to do it. As you know, the GMT provides information about who is on AutoShip, so this is a commitment you can make that your upline will know about immediately.

2. Upgrade to Intstant Platinum
Another commitment to consider is upgrading to Instant Platinum. With the new Priority & Priority Plus Bonuses in place, the odds are that many of the new affiliates being placed will be Instant Platinums. If you aren't qualified as an Instant Platinum yourself, it's going to be hard to mentor one. Like AutoShip, upgrading to Instant Platinum is one of those steps that's a "no brainer" now that the Priority & Priority Plus Bonuses are in effect. If you don't want to miss out on potential earnings -- and potential placements -- this is something to do right away.

3. Attend Meetings and Show the Plan
A third commitment your upline is looking for is involvement in the life of the organization. That can take many forms, but one of the most important is attending meetings, bringing prospects to meetings, and showing the plan. If you're going to mentor a new affiliate, teaching him or her the right way to build, you need to be doing these things yourself.

Placing new affiliates could not be easier. The new tool in GMT makes it quick and simple. Now that the capability is there, it's time to make the most of it -- and that means sponsoring new affiliates so you have placements to make, and being committed to business building so your upline will place affiliates with you!

So Why Haven’t You Found A Home Business Yet?

Tom Schreiter was in San Antonio, talking with Jackie Clayton. He asked Jackie what made the difference when she is calling leads.

When the prospect answers the phone, she says:

"I see you have been looking for a home based business.
So why haven't you found a home business yet?"

Then Jackie explained why these two sentences work so well.

"The key is the question: 'So why haven't you found a home business yet?'"

Jackie continued: "The prospects relax, they do the talking, I do the listening. They tell me exactly why they didn't choose other businesses and now I know exactly what they are looking for. So when I then tell them about my business, it's easy."

I thought about this approach and it makes sense.

First, your prospects feel good because they can talk instead of us doing all the talking and selling.

Second, if you listen closely, you can know how to approach these prospects in a way they will accept your information.

And third, this is an almost rejection-free way of having a conversation with prospects. This should make cold call recruiting much more pleasant.

The Formula for Financial Success with Vitamark

We are very fortunate at Vitamark that we have some incredible leaders who enjoy sharing their success and advice with our European Affiliates on how to develop a successful Vitamark business. During a recent Vitamark European Conference Call, Art Jonak talked about success in Vitamark and he explained the following:

Your success in Vitamark depends upon your ability to get a large group of people to do a few simple things over a consistent period of time.

Definition of a large group of people – This could be as low as five people and building up to hundreds.

Definition of a few simple things - This could be initially two or three things.

Definition of a consistent period of time - This could start at being just 30 days, then 90 days etc, etc….

So remember ‘Your Success’ in Vitamark depends on you! Small acorns don’t grow into large oak trees over night, they need a consistent amount of food, light and water; it’s the same with your businesses, set realistic goals, be consistent in your work plan and follow the advice of Vitamark Leaders who are making a difference.

Remember, find a few people, nurture them, help them and watch them grow and you will see as you look back at the path you have walked, a large business behind you!

Help other people to cope with their problems and your own will be easier to cope with. Never use the word ‘impossible’ seriously again. Toss it into the verbal wastebasket.

Self-trust is the first secret of success. So always believe in and trust yourself.

Stand up to your obstacles and do something about them. You will find that they haven't half the strength you think they have.

Joy increases as you give it, and diminishes as you try to keep it for yourself. In giving it, you will accumulate a deposit of joy greater than you ever believed possible.

How you think about a problem is more important than the problem itself - so always think positively.

An Incredible Story! Do the work right one time and...

Recently one of our Vitamark Affiliates sent us one of their favorite motivational stories that they share with their organization. They said that they always love the story and believe in it. They are now going through the fantastic growth period themselves and want to encourage others to hang in there and not to give up.  Read below for more details:

"Zig Ziglar tells the incredible, but true, story of the Chinese bamboo tree. I looked up the details in the World Book and even made a trip to Indonesia to see these fast growing bamboo trees for myself.

The guide I had in Indonesia said you can almost see some of the species of the bamboo tree growing with the naked eyes, they grow so rapidly.

The process goes like this: You take a little seed, plant it, water it, and fertilize it for a whole year, and nothing happens. The second year, you water it and fertilize it and nothing happens. The third year, you water it and fertilize it and nothing happens. How discouraging this becomes! The fifth year you continue to water and fertilize the seed and then — take note.

Sometime during the fifth year, the Chinese bamboo tree sprouts and grows NINETY FEET IN SIX WEEKS.

Life is much akin to the growing process of the Chinese bamboo tree. It is often discouraging. We seemingly do things right, and nothing happens.

But for those who do things right and are not discouraged and are persistent, things will happen. Finally, we begin to receive the rewards."

Building a passive, recurring income with Vitamark can be very similar!  With Vitamark  you do the work right one time and then get paid over and over and over again for the work you did.  At first it may seem you are not getting paid very well for the work you are putting in and then later on you get paid over and over for all the work you did!

Handling Objections

Many Affiliates ask how to handle objections from those looking at Vitamark as a business opportunity. In truth, the more people you talk to, the easier you will find answering objections and this will help you gain more experience dealing with objections. The more you share the business opportunity, the better you will be at your presentation. The truth is nothing makes up for practical experience; however, this is what one of my friends told me about handling objections.

We all face objections in our lives and in our business. Keep in mind, a person voicing objections to your business opportunity is not necessarily saying “no”. Actually, they are giving you a chance to dispel their doubts. If someone honestly is not interested they will say no! Period. You simply move on. Your ability to handle objections in a positive way can make all the difference to your prospect. Here are four of the most common objections together with a positive suggested response:

1. Objection: “I don’t like to sell.”
Response: “I know how you feel. I felt the same way until I found out how this really works. While you can retail products if you want to, it’s not actually necessary. To be successful, you merely need to recommend and refer, not sell.”

2. Objection: “Isn’t this a pyramid?”
Response: “A pyramid puts one person on the top, making all the big money, with no chance for anyone below him to earn any more than he is making. In our business, you are never limited by those above you. In a legitimate network marketing company a person can surpass the income of their sponsor simply by working harder and smarter. How much you make is up to you. Illegal pyramids have either no product line or service at all or work solely on paying commissions for enrolling new members. Any multi-level company that does this won’t last long.”

3. Objection: “I don’t have the time.”
Response: “Everybody’s day is 24 hours long, yet obviously some people are much better off than others. These people are simply using their time more wisely. This is an opportunity for you to use your time differently, more effectively, to directly and significantly increase your income.”

4. Objection: “What makes your company better than all the others?”
Response: This should be one of the easiest objections you’ll ever have to handle. Just think back to all the critical points you took into consideration before you joined. This is your chance to point out all the benefits, including long-term financial security, available through your business opportunity. Talk about your company’s Marketing Plan but keep it simple. If they ask for specifics, be prepared to explain them. Move on to Product Line. Emphasize quality, variety, consumability. Share personal; experiences. Mention company stability. Refer to the company track record, experienced leaders and solid financial foundation. Finally, talk about timing. Network Marketing is the wave of the future. As an established company in a booming industry your opportunity has an edge on the competition already.
